An ERP health check should assess close, controls, reporting, integrations, ownership and run cost. It should finish with a sequenced decision, rather than a general list of issues.
01
Configuration and close
Review the chart, period controls, reconciliations, reporting and the recurring exceptions that delay close. The question is how finance works today, not how the system was configured at go-live.
02
Integrations and transaction flow
Map what enters and leaves the ledger, how failures surface and which reconciliations prove completeness. Silent failures should appear as records someone can own.
03
Ownership and run cost
Document who understands the estate, where outside support is required and what the current operating model costs. One knowledgeable employee is still a concentration risk.
04
Rescue or replace
Replacement is justified when the platform cannot support the required operating model. Configuration, process and ownership problems should be addressed before a selection programme begins.
